The wheel of time History and author overview
The history of Wheel of Time spans thousands of years, but there is a central loop that repeats with each generation and involves a great hero known as the Dragon and an evil entity known as the Dark. One.
These two characters are supposed to face each other in what’s known as the final battle that will determine the fate of the world, and this cycle repeats as the dragon is reborn over and over again. At one point, the Dark One, in his last act before being defeated, tainted the magical source of the Dragon’s power. This has driven all male magic users, known as Aes Sedai, crazy. This affliction was the main reason these Aes Sedai were hunted down and wiped out.
When the Wheel of Time actually begins, we follow protagonist Rand al’Thor as he discovers that he is more than just a farm boy and is able to wield the power of the Aes Sedai and could be the reborn dragon.
As previously mentioned, Robert Jordan was the creator and author of The Wheel of Time books, but sadly passed away while writing the last book, A Memory of Light. His wife and editor Harriet McDougal and fantasy author Brandon Sanderson completed the story based on his unfinished work and notes, and the story has been told.
